This project was conceived in 2019 during a discussion about health services and support for neurodivergent individuals like us (special thanks to Mark S., Rowena, and Dr. Max B.). We envisioned a resource that would inform our community about neurodivergent-friendly places.
Initially, we hoped service providers would implement this idea, but that didn’t materialise. Instead, we collaborated with a wonderful and talented supporter, AC, and leveraged our diverse skills—from coding to testing—to create this space.
During a university presentation, George Neville and I shared that the greatest resource at our disposal is people’s kindness. This kindness, coupled with curiosity, can facilitate small accommodations that make a huge impact in supporting neurodivergence.
We hope this platform assists the neurodivergent community and their families in accessing services that offer appropriate support. These services can serve as models for others. If you are part of such services, we hope you recognise what aspects you excel in and maintain them, and identify areas that could use some improvement.
Please join us in identifying and sharing information about services that are more accessible and accommodating. Your participation can help us all navigate these services with greater confidence.
